Actors Lee Sun-bin, Park Ji-hwan, and Bae Hyeon-seong are coming together for the upcoming film The Taste of Prison.
The Taste of Prison is a delightful gourmet rehabilitation comedy. It follows a star chef who hits rock bottom overnight and ends up working in a prison kitchen, alongside inmates who create soul-stirring dishes using unimaginable recipes and ingredients.
Lee Sun-bin, who has demonstrated a broad acting spectrum across various genres in films like Noise and Okay! Madam, as well as dramas such as To the Moon, The Potato Lab, Boyhood, the Work Later, Drink Now series, and Squad 38, will play the star chef Jessica. Jessica is a highly successful, sharp-tongued chef who has only walked the elite culinary path, only to fall from grace overnight and land in a prison kitchen. Lee is expected to showcase a fresh charm with her signature energy and stable acting skills.
Park Ji-hwan will play Jeong-bae, who, alongside Jessica, brings a culinary breeze to the bleak prison. Known for his powerful screen presence in films like The King's Warden, Handsome Guys, The Outlaws series, and Hansan: Rising Dragon, as well as dramas like A Hundred Memories, Seoul Busters, The Frog, and the Gyeongseong Creature series, Park takes on the role of Jeong-bae, the leader of Cell 3. Jeong-bae is a culinary maestro who whips up extraordinary dishes using unheard-of recipes and mysterious ingredients. Constantly clashing with star chef Jessica in a battle of pride and culinary skills, Park is set to inject delightful energy into the film with his trademark sly charm.

Bae Hyeon-seong has been cast as Suhyeon, a newcomer in Cell 3 who emerges as the prison's Gen Z chef thanks to his protective-instinct-triggering gentle nature and innate culinary sense. Bae, who has shown fresh charm in dramas like Shin's Project, Family by Choice, Gaus Electronics, Our Blues, and the Hospital Playlist series, is expected to portray the naive yet deeply thoughtful Suhyeon in his own unique style.
The Taste of Prison will be helmed by director Kim Gu-jeong, who won the Best Film Award at the Seoul Short Film Festival for Mom, I Know Your Endless Love—which garnered attention for its unconventional and provocative direction—and the Sonje Award at the Busan International Film Festival for Siam, Hard Romance, praised for its unique premise and sensibility.
With its main cast locked in, including Lee Sun-bin, Park Ji-hwan, and Bae Hyeon-seong, The Taste of Prison is scheduled to begin filming this July.
